Rotation is keeping Mariners afloat

Thirty-three games into the season, the Seattle Mariners are far from being a complete team. However, they have some admirable qualities, including their starting pitching. When Jason Vargas went eight innings and allowed just one run in a 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, it marked the ninth time a Seattle starter has gone at least seven innings while giving up zero or one runs.

Seattle Mariners score late to beat Detroit…

SEATTLE () — Consider the Detroit Tigers thrilled to be done with seeing Seattle for the remainder of the 2012 season. Whether it was back in Detroit or out in the Pacific Northwest, the Tigers could not solve the Mariners. John Jaso got the best of Detroit's bullpen for the second time in three games with a RBI single to score Michael Saunders with the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning, and the Mariners beat the Tigers 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Tacoma Rainiers' Pitching Staff Worst in PCL:…

When it comes to depth in the minor leagues, the Seattle Mariners don't seem to have it at Triple-A Tacoma. Through the games of Tuesday night (May 8), the Tacoma Rainiers have the worst pitching staff in the Pacific Coast League. While it's still early in the season, I feel that the numbers that the Rainiers have put up are atrocious.

Seattle Mariners Make Right Move by Benching Chone…

I think Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge made the right move by benching Chone Figgins. The decision came Friday (May 4), likely after Wedge finally realized that Figgins is in a slump that he won't emerge from as a member of the Mariners. If anyone needed that he had made the right call, it came over the weekend when the Mariners won two of three games from the Minnesota Twins
